George R. Heiss, 77, of Beverly, Ohio, died Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born September 1, 1935 in Beverly, Ohio, son of Joseph A. and Delilah P. Nicholas Heiss. He had built silos, was a truck driver for Huck Brothers and hauled asphalt materials. He had owned and operated Heiss Plumbing and Electric for many years. He attended Waterford High School and was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Sons of the American Legion Post #389 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3665 in Beverly, Moose Lodge # 2382 in Lowell and the K of P. Lodge. He was married May 22, 1954 to Camilla Offenberger Heiss who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Charlene “Sis” Hall of Beverly and Chris Schweikert and husband Doug of Waterford; 4 sons, Rod Heiss and wife Candy of Lowell, Rick Heiss and wife Teresa of Marietta, Steve Heiss and wife Marjorie of Waterford and Andy Heiss and wife Liza of Beverly; 16 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Donivan Heiss and wife Fay of Waterford, Bernard “Bunt” Heiss of Waterford and Leonard Heiss and wife Sharon of Worland, Wyoming; Sister in law, Rosemary Heiss of Waterford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Russell Joseph Heiss; son in law, Dennis Hall; brother, Fred Heiss and twin infant brothers; sister in law Norma Heiss. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Monsignor Robert Kawa officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Friends may call 2-8 PM on Tuesday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly. A Christian Wake service will be held at 7:30 PM Tuesday.
