Lyle P. Martin Sr.

Lyle P. Martin Sr., 83, of Stockport, Ohio, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born October 8, 1933 at Jug Run, WV, son of Edward Clark and Glenna Anderson Martin. He was a member of the Brick Layers Union and had been a brick layer for 45 years. He had served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Cornerstone South Family Life Church in McConnelsville, Ohio. He was married on March 2, 1951 to Dolores “Sis” Buffington Martin who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Lyle Martin Jr. and wife Lois of Vincent and Timothy Martin and wife Carol of Stockport; two daughters, Jeanne Long and husband Eugene of Stockport and Peggy Jo Van Dyne and husband Mike of Stockport; daughter in law, Yvonne Landaker Schrader; fourteen grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry C. Martin; a daughter, Carolyn Sue Reynolds Smith; a grandson, Joey Smith Martin; six brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Cornerstone South Family Life Church in McConnelsville, Ohio with Pastor Steve Smith officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 pm on Thursday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly and 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the church on Friday.
