I am Janet's friend of the last 5 years and am still shocked and saddened by her sudden passing. My deepest condolences to her family. I can only imagine how difficult it is/was to navigate her situation long distance. While there is now a huge hole in my heart, I feel lucky and blessed to have spent what turned out to be that one last afternoon with her. She was happy, hungry, in good spirits - which made news of her passing all the more difficult to accept. Janet was an independent person, kind, content and easy to please. She was a trooper too, from the first time I met her. I always admired her strength and perseverance. I know she greatly appreciated all the help and TLC from people like her caregiver Ann, her friend & coworker Tammy, her neighbor Toni, and all her friends from the gym. She expressed to me several times after her diagnosis that "a lot more people cared" than she had ever realized. It made her feel comforted and loved as she battled illness. And of course, she loved her family immensely. She talked about them all the time and held visits with them dear, both before and after her diagnosis. If there's anything I can do help on the NC end, please don't hesitate to contact me. I miss you, Janet. I think of you every day, as always. See you on the other side, my friend. - Karie (in High Point)

I have only known Janet for the last 6 months of her life. I was her care giver, having met in the hospital after her surgery., earlier this year. We connected from the very first meeting. Taking her for appointments, or shopping, she was always happy to just go somewhere. She made it enjoyable to be able to help her , always sweet and caring, in spite of her illness. I miss her very much, but know she is in good hands now.. Rest easy my friend, Ann ( in NC )
