Paul T. Smith

Paul T. Smith, 76, of Beverly, Ohio, died Thursday, July 20, 2017 at his home. He was born on September 25, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland, son of Lester and Helen Eleanor Fox Smith. He retired in 2001 from Globe Metallurgical after 38 years of service. He graduated from Fort Frye High School in 1959 and served in the US Army from 1959 until 1962. He was a member of the American Legion Post 389 in Beverly and the 40&8. He had been a member of the Beverly Waterford Jaycees and the Beverly Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the Village of Beverly Council and as Mayor for 16 years. Paul was an avid Cincinnati Bengals and Ohio State Buckeyes fan and also enjoyed NASCAR racing. He was married on January 11, 1985 to Camilla Dew Smith who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Steve Smith and wife Jessica of Prattville, Alabama and Jeff Smith and wife Summer of Mooresville, North Carolina; two daughters, Tammy Jackson of Waterford and Tina Tilton and husband Allen of Caldwell; nine grandchildren, Jeconda Arnold and husband Josh, Savannah Meek and husband Andy, Kristin Pottmeyer and husband Alex, Josh Tilton, Maggie Tilton, Shon Smith, Taylor Smith, Spencer Smith and Logan Smith; seven great grandchildren; brother in-law, Brian Dew and Sheryle; two sisters in-law, Julie Davis and Dave and Vickie Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clyde Dennis Smith. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Steve Wainwright officiating. Friends may call 1-6 pm on Saturday. A Military service will be held at the conclusion of the services. Donations may be made to the American Legion Post 389 or the CHS Hospice.
