Wilda J. Bachelor, 96, of Beverly, Ohio, died on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Muskingum Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Beverly. She was born on January 13, 1923 in Burbank, Oklahoma, daughter of Earl and Mildred Wyatt Montgomery. Wilda had been a dispatcher for the Beverly Police Department and retired in 1991. She was a member of the Beverly United Methodist Church. Wilda attended many schools in her childhood as her parents traveled the oil fields. Though she never graduated from high school, Wilda continued her education throughout her lifetime through her voracious appetite for reading. She was married on July 7, 1942 to Wendell “Dode” Bachelor. He died January 29, 1978. She is survived by two daughters, Becky Forrest (Steve) of Waterford and Linda Veraldo (Joe) of Marietta; a son, Michael Bachelor (Robin) of Mabscott, WV; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Emily and Daniel Bachelor, Eric Self (Rachel), Jeremy Self (Megan), Jesse Forrest and Brett Forrest (Frank); two great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a daughter, Jeannine Combs ; a son, Donald Bachelor; sister, Thelma Mosberger; and a brother, Richard “Sharky” Montgomery.
Visitation will be 5-8 pm on Monday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly. A service will follow the visitation at 8 pm with Pastor Jerry Penrod officiating. Burial will in the Dale Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.mccurdyfh.com.
