Obituary

     Wayne E. “Pete” Dobbins, 94, of Stockport, Ohio died on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at his home. He was born on May 2, 1927 in Waterford, Ohio, son of Earl and Similda Hesson Dobbins. He graduated from Waterford High School in 1945, served in the US Navy and later went on to Barber College. Wayne barbered in Beverly for several years and then moved to Stockport and had a barber shop there. He also owned the Upholstery Shop in Stockport for many years. He loved gardening and was known for raising pole lima beans. He was a member of the Todds Grange and the Liberty United Brethren Church. Wayne was married on July 17, 1948 to Mary E. Johnson Dobbins who died on August 3, 1998. He later married Shirley Lewis in 1999. He is survived by his wife Shirley; a son Stanley Earl “Butch” Dobbins of Beverly; two daughters, Jeryl Manning and husband Gary of McConnelsville and Shelia Winebrenner of Waterford; two stepsons, Terry (Pat) Lewis of Plantsville and Randy Lewis of Amesville; six grandchildren, Keith Dobbins, Katie Dobbins, Kari Leonhart, Angie Nolan, Roger Winebrenner and Ryan Winebrenner; several great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and a sister in-law, Marilyn Johnson of Newark. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary; his parents; his in-laws, Stanley and Pauline Johnson; two brothers, George (Helen) Hesson and Harry (Bea) Dobbins; two sisters, Marvel (John) Houser and Mae (Jack) Peters; a daughter in-law, Kathy Dobbins; brother in-law, John Johnson and a grandson, Patrick Winebrenner.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with pastor David Jarvis officiating. Burial will be in the Waterford Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 pm on Wednesday. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.mccurdyfh.com.
