Wanda D. Slater, 90, of Dexter City, Ohio, died on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 8, 1928 in Morgan County, Ohio, daughter of Charles and Deette Stewart Clark. She graduated from Dexter City High School in 1946. Wanda was a homemaker and liked to quilt, cook, and play music. She especially liked to spent time with her family. She was a member of the Mt. Olive Community Church. On June 21, 1947 she was married to Clayton E. Slater, who died on July 20, 2004. She is survived by two sons, Richard Slater and wife Judy of Macksburg and Virgil Slater of Dexter City; two daughters, Mary Brothers and husband Kenny of Beverly and Virginia Birch and husband Randy of Dellroy, Ohio. Eleven grandchildren, Twenty great- grandchildren and three great- great- grandchildren; two brothers, Ivan Clark (Betty) of Waterford and Jerry Clark (Sandy) of Dexter City; two sisters, Donna Porter (Jim) of Caldwell and Nancy Baker (Neil) of Beverly; Several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant daughter, Janet Deette Slater; two brothers, Eldon and Darrel Clark; and a sister Edna Jeanie Baker.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Pastor Jim Porter officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Saturday. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.mccurdyfh.com.
