Twila L. "Stiers" Hoover

     Twila L. Stiers Hoover, 89, of Waterford, Ohio, died on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 9, 1932 in Brokaw, Morgan County Ohio, daughter of Cecil G. and Lenora Ellis Hoover. She graduated from Windsor High School in Stockport and had been a caregiver for many years in the area. She was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church and the Stockport Senior Citizens. She was an avid reader and writer and had won the National Poet award in the early 1980’s. Twila was also a very devoted mother and grandmother and loved her family dearly. She is survived by four sons, Rick Stiers, Bill Stiers (Teresa), David Stiers and Scott Stiers all of Waterford; a daughter, Cathy Windland (Greg) of Belpre; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren; a sister, Darlene Hoover of Marietta; four brothers, Kent, Randy, Terry and Kim Hoover all of California; and a brother in-law, David Brown of Cutler. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Margy Drayer and her husband Bruce; two brothers, Russell and Roger Hoover; two sisters, Beverly Roberts and Sharon Brown; her ex husband, William John Stiers Jr., whom she married in 1949 and her son in-law, Ted Mower.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the Oakland United Methodist Church with Pastor David Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
