Ronald D. Tyson, 89, of Beverly, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 16, 1935 in Beverly, Ohio, son of Walter and Kathleen Stiers Tyson. He grew up in Beverly, graduated from Beverly High School in 1953 and built a life defined by service and dedication. Ronald married the love of his life, Helen L. Fleshour on December 21, 1954 and together they shared a loving and enduring partnership until her passing on February 20, 2016. Ronald served his country with honor in the United States Army, a chapter of his life that was marked by pride and commitment. He later devoted his career to the Army Corps of Engineers, retiring in 2000 after many years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 389, Fraternal Order of Eagles #3665, The Ohio Defense Corps and the Fifth Street Church of Christ. Ronald is survived by his daughter, Darlene Tyson; son, Carl D. Tyson; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Kathleen Tyson; wife, Helen L. Tyson; daughter, Deborah Hersman (and husband Romeo Hersman); son, Ronald D. Tyson (and wife Patty Tyson); brothers, Russell Tyson and Dallas Tyson; sisters, Loretta Smith and Maxine Tyson; and four grandchildren, Carl Tyson II, Caleb Tyson, Joan Wunderlich and Jason Wunderlich; as well as a great granddaughter, Lena Wunderlich.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Steve Wainwright officiating. The burial will be in the Beverly Cemetery with Military Services at the grave. Friends may call 10:00 am until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Beverly-Waterford Rescue Squad in Ronald’s honor and online condolences may be made by visiting www.mccurdyfh.com. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
