Merle P. "Mike" Rucker

     Merle P. “Mike” Rucker, 92, of Stockport, Ohio, died on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.  He was born on October 6, 1928, son of Luther Alexander Rucker and Alma Opal Palmer Rucker. He was born in the home of Alma’s parents, located between Hackney and Reinersville , Ohio. He went to school at Earlys Ridge School and then to Reinersville School. He quit school in the eighth grade to help his parents farm, when his brothers went to war. He then met his wife, Mary Louise Yoho, and they were married 67 years ago, on December 2, 1953 in Richmond, IL. Mike was a hard worker and started his career farming and working at a mill. Then, he worked at Malta Window Manufacturing, Interlake-Globe, in Beverly, for 31 years and retired in 1986. He was also a trustee in Center Township for eight years .He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Yoho Rucker; three children, Ronald Rucker and wife Lisa of Rocky River, Ohio, David Rucker and wife Alison of Malta and Cindy Wilson and husband Mark of Malta; Ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Opal Petry of Navarre, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Rucker; three brothers, William Dearnbarger, Eugene Rucker and Ralph Rucker.

     A private graveside service will be held at the Reinersville Cemetery on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 with Pastor Rick Borne officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the M&M Fire and Rescue Squad, 77 South Fourth St., McConnelsville, Ohio 43756. McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly is in charge of arrangements.
