Margaret Ann Lanning

     Margaret Ann Lanning, 95, of Beverly, formerly of Waterford, died on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsville, Ohio. She was born on July 24, 1929 in Zanesville, Ohio, daughter of Heber G. and Susan I. Merry Slack. Margaret graduated from Zanesville High School and attended Ohio State University for two years. She was a homemaker and also was a rural mail carrier in Beverly for several years. Margaret also demonstrated electric stoves for AEP for a few years. She was a longtime member of the Beverly Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star # 506, American Legion Auxiliary Post 389 at Beverly and also the DAR. She had a love for travel and had visited all 50 States as well as trips to foreign countries. She also loved to read, do crossword puzzles and gather with friends to play cards. She was married on July 8, 1955 to Lloyd G. Lanning who died on June 29, 2001. She was later married on August 17, 2013 to Duane Pool who survives. Margaret is also survived by two sons, Doug Lanning and wife Lisa of Canal Winchester, Ohio and Richard Lanning of Columbus; two daughters, Linda Frary and husband Jim of Provo, Utah and Mary “Peggy” Wells and husband Roger of Waterford; two step children, Jim Pool and wife Lyndell of Beverly and Marilyn Krigbaum of Columbus; grandchildren, Travis Wells, Ryan Wells, Heather Wells, Matthew Lanning (Chelsea), Sarah Lanning (Jason), Kaitlin Frary (Kody), Emily Nettles (Steven), Lauren Frary, Christopher Frary and Olivia Frary; a step grandchild, Katie Krigbaum; two great grandchildren, Addison Rose Lanning and Kennedy Eros Frary; a sister, Jane Houk of Zanesville and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd; her parents; a brother and three sisters.

     Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Rev.Thomas O’Connor and Pastor Beverly Pottmeyer officiating. Burial will be in the Waterford Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
