Lovell M. Sampson, 97, of Beverly, Ohio, died on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Harmar Place in Marietta. He was born on July 18, 1925 in Waterford, Ohio, son of William Everett Sampson and Roberta Morey Sampson. He retired from Goodrich in Marietta at 61, after 38 years of service. He served in the US Army during WWII and was stationed in the Philippines during the Pacific Campaign. He was a member of the Beverly United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #389 and was an 80 year member of the Waterford Grange. He enjoyed farming, tractor pulls, and all kinds of tractors, especially the Allis Chalmers. On July 18, 1948 he was married to Goldie V. Burchett Sampson who died on May 20, 2015. He is survived by two sons, Larry Sampson and wife Sue of Beverly and Mark Sampson and wife Nannette of Beverly; four grandchildren, Jordan Sampson, Ryan Sampson, Marcus Sampson and wife Barbara and Traci Nichols and husband David; four great grandchildren, Everett Sampson, Ian Sampson, Aceynn Nichols and Dia Nichols. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; great granddaughter, Ava Cole Nichols and two brothers, Lloyd and Lyle Sampson.
There will be a private family graveside service held at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 9, 2023 at the Waterford Cemetery with Military Services by American Legion Post # 389 where he was the oldest member.
