Laura Biedel Obituary

     Laura Mae Biedel, 92, of Coal Run, Ohio, died on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 17, 1929 in Waterford, Ohio, daughter of Alvin and Helen Miller Smith. She graduated from Waterford High School in 1946 and worked beside her husband Jack on their Waterford farm for over 30 years. In later life she worked at Baskin Robbins Ice Cream shop, Porters Florist, Washington-Morgan County Community Action and the US Forest Service. Laura loved working in her flower gardens and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

   On July 13, 1947 she married Jack Biedel who died on July 3, 1983. She is survived by two daughters, Gina Warner and husband Dale of Laurelville, Ohio and Julie Wagner and husband Steve of Coal Run; four grandchildren, Elise McGinnis (Tim) of Circleville, Ohio, Jake Biedel of Columbus, Ohio, Ethan Warner (Sierra) of Amanda, Ohio and Isaac Wagner of Coal Run, Ohio; two great grandchildren, Judah McGinnis and Malachi McGinnis, and a third great grandchild on the way; a daughter in-law, Jami Biedel of Waterford; one sister, Donna Tornes of Churchtown, Ohio and a brother, Gary Smith (MaryLou) of Harrison, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, John Biedel; a brother, Bill Smith; sister in-law, Francis Smith and a brother in-law, Tony Tornes.

     A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the Watertown Cemetery with burial to follow. The family would like to thank the Beverly-Waterford Rescue Squad, Dr. Cawley, Dr. Dennis and Amedysis/ Marietta Hospice Team. Also thanks to caregiver, Darla McGrath and the Marietta Memorial 2 West nurses and staff for their loving care during the last several months. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Waterford Athletic Boosters or the Beverly-Waterford Rescue Squad. McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly is in charge of the arrangements.
