John D. Allen

     John D. Allen, 81 of Beverly, Ohio, died on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on June 29, 1942 in Reinersville, Ohio, son of Dewey and Lillie Bell Allen. His passion was driving trucks and he had been an over the road truck driver for several years. He graduated from Fort Frye High School and then served his country by joining the US Marine Corps. John’s life was his family and he enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren along with fishing, gambling and going to Las Vegas. He was married on January 14, 1963 to Jane Brown Allen who survives. He is also survived by his children, Kirk Allen of Beverly, Jeff Allen (Bobbie Jo) of Beverly, Kraig Allen (Lauren) of Belpre and Jill Christie of Byesville; seven grandchildren, Mellynie Johnson (Steve), Derick Allen (Kendra), Robby Allen (Kacee), Molly Allen, Karly Allen, Ebby Allen and TJ Christie (Kayla); two great grandchildren, Lynlee Johnson, Winnie Allen and one on the way and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Allen; three sisters, Joanne Lewis, Janice Wogan and Judy Keylor.

     Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Chris Wells officiating. Friends may call 4-8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home and the burial will be in the Chesterhill Cemetery at a later date.
