Jerry Witten Obituary

     Jerry Wayne Witten, Age 73, of 16670 State Rt. 60, Lowell, OH 45744 passed away on March 5, 2020 near Lowell, Ohio. He was born December 11, 1946 in Fly, Ohio to Ralph and Frances (Bradfield) Witten.  Jerry was a farmer all his life and owned and operated Witten Farms with his parents and children near Coal Run.  Jerry graduated from Fort Frye High School in 1964.  Jerry was a member of Beverly United Methodist Church.  

      Jerry is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Sutherland) Witten, of 51 years, daughters, Amy Holstine (Marvin) of Plainville, Indiana; Julie Witten of Lowell, Ohio, Carrie Makris (Andy) of Trevor, Wisconsin, and sons Thomas Witten (Lora) of Lowell, Ohio and Scott Witten (Melinda) of Lowell, Ohio.  Jerry and Bonnie had 10 grandchildren, Lucas Holstine, Abby Holstine, Maxwell Makris, Samual Makris, Reagan Witten, Grant Witten, Audrey Witten and Nicholas Witten, Jack Witten and Eloise Witten.  Jerry is survived by 5 sisters, Carol Witten of Richmond, CA; Barbara Jahn (Don) of Barlow, OH, Susan Whitacre (Rick) of Zanesville, Ohio; Polly Campbell (Larry) of Barlow, Ohio; Debora Witten (Martin DeMatteis) of Jamestown, PA and Ralph Witten Jr of Zanesville, Ohio.

 

     Jerry graduated from The Ohio State University College of Agriculture in 1968 after which he returned to the family farm.  On December 27, 1968 Jerry married Bonnie Sutherland.   Jerry was progressive in building the family farm with a constant focus on improving production. Those who knew Jerry knew him as a stubborn farmer, passionate about hard work, family and farming.

 

     Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Beverly United Methodist Church, Park Street, Beverly Ohio.  Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 Thursday March 12 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly, Ohio and 11:00-1:00  Friday, March 13, 2020 at Beverly United Methodist Church.  Jerry will be laid to rest at Round Bottom Cemetery near the family farm on St Rt. 60.
