Harold R. Tuten

     Harold R. Tuten.92, of Marietta, Ohio died on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at his home. He was born on June 16, 1929 in Grays, South Carolina, son of William W. and Alma Oree Freeman Tuten. Harold graduated from Chicora High School in Charleston SC in 1946 and Murray Vocational School in 1947. He began his career in the Ferroalloys Industry in 1948 with Pittsburgh Metallurgical in Charleston SC. In 1955 Harold and his family relocated to Beverly, Ohio with Globe Iron Company, which later became part of Interlake Steel and later became Globe Metallurgical. He retired in 2002 as Executive Vice president of Operations over all Globe locations. He was known as an expert in operations in the ferroalloy industry. He was a member of the Iron and Steel Society and the American Society of Metals. He was also a longtime member of the Beverly Presbyterian Church. He was married on December 2, 1949 to Diane W. Winner Tuten his wife of 72 years. Diane died on January 14, 2022. Harold is survived by two daughters, Susanna Baker of Beverly and Rachel Klinger and husband Steve of Churchtown; five sons, Richard “Butch” Tuten and wife Lana of Stockport, Keith Tuten and wife Tami of Marietta, Scott Tuten and wife Michelle of Athens, David Tuten and wife Jerilyn of Dyersburg, Tenn. and Mike Tuten and wife Johnna of Waterford; twenty two grandchildren; twenty six great- grandchildren; five step grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren and two forthcoming; a brother, Frank W. Tuten of North Charleston , SC; and a sister-in-law, Myrl Antley Tuten of Mt. Pleasant, SC; also special caregivers, Sherry and Megan. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sisters, Pauline Pooser, Alma Rourk and Ruby Inez Tuten; brothers, William W. Tuten Jr., Luther Tuten and his twin brother, Harry L. Tuten all of Charleston, SC.; a son-in-law, Bill Baker and a great granddaughter, Sarah Grace Owens.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the Beverly Presbyterian Church with Pastor Tom O’Connor officiating.  Burial will be in the Beverly Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 pm on Tuesday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Harold and Diane Tuten Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the Marietta Community Foundation, P.O. Box 77, Marietta, Ohio 45750.
