Gertrude Arnold Obituary

                                                                 

     Gertrude Elizabeth Huck Arnold passed away peacefully in her home on November 9th, 2021, at the remarkable age of 95 in Waterford, OH. She was born September 17, 1926 to Joseph and Ida Schaad Huck in the family home near Lowell, OH.  She was a 1945 graduate of Lowell High School and a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Churchtown and the Catholic Women's Club. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Lower Muskingum Historical Society of Beverly. She was a partner on the 3 Arnold farms. With the help of her children, she was able to remain living in her home where she wanted to be.

    As a proud mother of 6 girls and 6 boys, she loved her children and was always quick to share news of her kids’ accomplishments. The value of hard work was important to her, not only was she an extremely hard worker but she instilled the value of hard work in her children as well.  She loved her country home, the country way of life, being outdoors and working in her yard.  Gertrude was a woman of deep religious conviction and loved her Catholic faith, family and friends. She had made beautiful quilts for all her children and grandchildren. Passing along her knowledge was her passion, she loved reading about history and health, often making book reports for her children to read on what she believed they needed to know. She was a devoted wife and homemaker, but most of all a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother, where she will be remembered for her famous "grandma's noodles" that were loved at family gatherings along with her kind loving gentle spirit.

   On May 20, 1947 she married Howard L. Arnold who died October 16, 1987.  She is survived by six daughters: Patricia Reed (Ted) Marietta, Kathy Leiden (Tom) Hunting Valley, OH, Evelyn Waller (Steve) Waterford, Joan Aceto (Mike,) Peoria, AZ, Marcia Pawloski (Glen) Myrtle Beach, SC, Brenda Work (Brian) Fairborn, OH. Two sons: Dean Arnold, Waterford, and Glen (Patricia), Ottawa, OH; Daughter-in-law, Janie Arnold, Troutville, VA. There are 20 Grandchildren: Serena (Doug) Winbigler, David (Kristen) Hay, Christy (Scott )Stephens, Stephanie (Mark) Francis, Mark (Ashley) Waller, Michael (Zara) Aceto, Jackie Aceto, Chris Aceto, Eric (Lisa) Pawloski, Gretchen (Phil) Yarborough, Kathy (Cody) Kleman, Julia Arnold, Ben Ragan, & Jon Ragan; Step-Grandchildren, Jason (Rachel) Reed, Eric (Natalie) Reed, Shawna (Tony) Burkhart, Tonya Tanner, Stacy (Joe) Pierce, Josh (Colleen) Work, 23 Great-Grandchildren and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and four sons, Donald (1951) Neal (1999) Marvin (2016) and Blaine (2018); Four brothers, John (2007), Walter (1963), Alfred (1931) and Joe (1996) Huck; Two sisters, Rita Bishop (2011) and Margaret Miller (2013).  Surviving is one sister, Mildred Schwendeman and one brother, James Huck.

     A private Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Churchtown with Father David Gaydosik. Burial will follow in church cemetery.
