Gene Alltop, 83, of Beverly, Ohio, died on Friday, September 27, 2024 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 1, 1940 in Coal Run, Ohio, son of Johnson C. and Mary Margaret Sampson Alltop. Gene graduated from Waterford high School in 1960 and later retired from Ohio Power Company- AEP after many years of service. He served in the West Virginia Army National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post #389 in Beverly. He enjoyed woodworking, loved the outdoors, liked to mow grass and work around the house. Gene and Sherrill enjoyed traveling, especially the Smoke Mountains and Gatlinburg, where they went many times. On February 17, 1963 he was married to Sherrill Holter Alltop who survives. He is also survived by three sisters, Bonnie Brannan of Marietta, Margaret Semon of Waterford and Judy Holland and husband Mark of Waterford; a brother in-law, Tom Huck; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers in-law, David Semon and Al Brannan and a sister in-law, Karen Huck.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Military services. Friends may call 1-4 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home and online condolences may be made by visiting www.mccurdyfh.com.
