Garner Burkheimer Obituary

     Garner O. Burkheimer, 91, of Waterford, died on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 14, 1929 in Reinersville, Ohio, son of W.M. Burkheimer and Glenna Morrison Burkheimer. He had worked at A&P Grocery for 15 years and later retired from AEP Muskingum River Plant after many years of service. Garner graduated from M&M High school in McConnelsville, Ohio. He loved nature and enjoyed gardening, hunting and golfing.  He was a longtime member of the Fifth St. Church of Christ in Beverly and the Masonic Lodge in Gallipolis, Ohio.

     He was married on June 15, 1969 to Sue Adams Burkheimer, who survives. Also surviving are two children, James “Jim” Burkheimer and wife Melissa of Beverly and Christy Lamp of Newport; three grandchildren, Ryan lamp, Bethany Spotts and Naomi (Andrew) Shultz; two great grandchildren, Angelo Resto and Gael Revera; four sisters, Dortha (Chester) McCormick of McConnelsville, Donna Hall of Malta, Mary Walters of Lakeland, Florida and Alice (Gary) Hall of Lakeland, Florida; two special cousins, Roger and Dana Burkheimer of Canton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lois Wolfe; brother, Jerry Burkheimer; three brothers in-law, Bob Walters, Albert Hall and Don Wolfe; a son in-law, Michael Lamp and a sister in-law, Patricia Burkheimer.

     There will be a private family visitation and a private graveside service at the Waterford Cemetery with Evang. Zack Waite officiating. The family would like to thank the Beverly Appletree Assisted Living staff, second floor nursing staff at Marietta Memorial and the Marietta Home Health and Hospice. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Marietta Home Health and Hospice, 27853 St. Rt. 7, Marietta, Ohio 45750.  McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly is in charge of the arrangements.
