Diane Elliott Obituary

Diane Wagner Elliott

Diane Wagner Elliott, 80, of Beverly, Ohio passed away Wednesday, June 3, with her family by her side.  She was born April 29, 1940, in Caldwell, Ohio to Donald R. and Mary June

Hutcheson Wagner.  She grew up in Marietta and graduated from Marietta High School in 1958, and Ohio University, with a bachelor’s degree in education, in 1962.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, J. Ronald Elliott, whom she married on August 26, 1962; two children, Michael Allen Elliott and his wife Stacy of Marietta, and daughter, Pamela Diane Elliott of Poland, Ohio; two grandsons, Patrick and Andrew

Elliott of Marietta.  She is also survived by one sister, Annita Crawford (Richard) of

Pittsburgh, a niece Karen Pagano (Mark) and nephews Kenneth (Amber)

and Robert Crawford (Karen) of Pittsburgh.  Also surviving are her sister and brother in law, Peggy and Al Wolfe, of Beverly.

She was a member of The Beverly Presbyterian Church and served as an elder and clerk of session for many years. Diane taught in the Marietta City and Fort Frye Local School Districts,

retiring in 2002, having taught at Putnam, Lowell, and Beverly Elementary.  She touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and caring ways.  She loved her 30 years of teaching, her fellow teachers, and was admired and loved by the many lives she touched.  Diane was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend and found a little good in everyone she met.

Mrs. Elliott was a past member of Zeta O.C.C.L, the Fort Frye Teachers Association, the Ohio Education Association and The Retired Teachers Association of Washington County.  She was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Presbyterian Women’s Association, and Chapter U of the International Chapter of P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Diane loved vacations at the beach, and in the mountains of Ligonier, Pennsylvania with her children, grandchildren and family members.  The greatest joy in her life was her family; especially her two children.  They were number #1 in her life, along with her grandsons that lovingly called her “Grandma.”  Diane enjoyed attending any, and all games they were playing and loved cheering them on.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald R. and June Wagner.

Graveside services will be held at the Beverly Cemetery on Saturday, June 6, at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Tom O’Connor presiding.  Social distancing measures will be practiced.
