Denver D. “Sonny” Yoak, 81, of Waterford, Ohio, died on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Muskingum Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Beverly. He was born on December 6, 1942 in Calhoun County, WV, son of Agnew T. Yoak Jr. and Albertina P. Morrison Yoak. He graduated from Calhoun High School and had attended Glenville State College in Glenville, WV. Denver had worked at Interlake Steel and later became a truck driver. He was married on February 10, 1963 to Mary L. Miller Yoak who died on July 23, 2018. He is survived by a daughter, Carla Arnold and husband Brett of Waterford and a son, James M. Yoak and wife Nancy of Kentucky; three grandchildren, Samantha Ann Arnold of Columbus, Ohio, Frank Arnold and Samantha Leigh of Twenty Nine Palms, California and Connor Yoak of Kentucky; two great grandchildren, Brooklyn Arnold and Lucas Arnold of Twenty Nine Palms, Cal; two sisters, Jean Middleton (Charles) of Vienna, WV, Joan Chaddock of Olmsted, Ohio; a brother, Raymond Yoak (Janice) of Riverton, Wyoming; a brother in law, John Miller (Helen), three sisters in law, Ginny Miller, Darlene Lott (Dale) and Tina Jones (Olen). He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two sisters in law, Carolyn Sue Ray and Stella Lucille McCoy; and a brother in law, Carroll Miller.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with burial in the Waterford Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
