Delmar L. Hutchins Sr. 93, of Stockport, Ohio, died on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio. He was born August 31, 1927 in Russellvile, Ohio, son of Earl and Della Parcell Hutchins Roberts. Delmar joined the Merchant Marines at 17 years of age then continued his service in the US Army as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He worked as a commercial electrician until the age of 72. He was a member of the IBW Union and a 65 year member of the American Legion Post 389 in Beverly. Delmar was an avid gardener, enjoyed making wine and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He married Elease Smith in 1953 and resided in Beverly where he raised four children. He is survived by a son, Kerby D.Hutchins and wife Mary; two daughters, Georgia L. Manley and husband Charles and Carma F. Matheny and husband Francis; and close family friends Chris and Cindy Fisher; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Delmar “Pete” Hutchins Jr.; and four siblings.
Funeral services will be held at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Evang. Zack Waite officiating and burial will be in the Beverly Cemetery with Military services at the grave.
