David S. Lowe D.V.M. age 93, of Beverly, Ohio, died on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Appletree Assisted Living in Beverly. He was born on October 15, 1929 in Marietta, Ohio, son of David Shinn Lowe Sr. and Helen Crooks Lowe. He graduated from M&M High School in McConnelsville, Ohio in 1947 and was a longtime Veterinarian, practicing in the area for 57 years. He graduated from Ohio State University College of Agriculture in animal science in 1953 and Ohio State University Department of Veterinarian Medicine in 1957. Dave served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War as a Gunnery Sgt. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Beverly and was a 63 year member of the Beverly Volunteer Fire Department, serving as Captain and Assistant Chief. He served on the Beverly City Council, the Washington County Health Board for several years and the American Association of Bovine Practitioners. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge # 37 F&AM at Beverly. He was married on March 2, 1951 to Martha A. Roberts Lowe who died on September 18, 2001. He is survived by a son, Phil Lowe and his wife Jennifer of Beverly and a daughter, Sabra Lowe of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren, Christopher Lowe and fiancée Sarah Duffey of Kent, Ohio, Patrick Lowe of Columbus, Ohio and Meg Martin and husband Travis of Wrightsville, Georgia; three great grandchildren, Lydia, Jesse and Beatrice; and a sister, Marilyn Roesti of Toledo, Ohio. Dave was preceded in death by his wife Martha, his parents and an infant sister, Shirley Lowe.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 8, 2023 at the Presbyterian Church of Beverly with Pastor Karl Kesselring officiating. Burial will be in the Beverly Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 pm on Sunday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Beverly Volunteer Fire Department at PO Box 70, Beverly, Ohio 45715.
