Darrell Jack Cunningham

     Darrell Jack Cunningham, 87, 0f Waterford, Ohio, died on Monday, October 10, 2022 at his home. He was born on January 24, 1935 in Morgan County, Ohio, son of Jesse D. and Elizabeth Pinkerton Cunningham. He graduated from Waterford High School in 1952 and served two terms in the US Army, one during the Berlin Crisis. He had been a farmer most of his life and he retired as Superintendent of the Washington County Highway Department. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 389, served on the Waterford Fair Board for many years, Waterford Township Trustees where he was instrumental in the development of the Beverly-Waterford Rescue Squad, Charter Member of Tri-County Water and former president of the Pioneer Camping Club. Jack always promoted youth sports of all kinds and was a longtime member of the Waterford Athletic Boosters Club. He was also noted in the community as an excellent carpenter.

     He was married on September 19, 1953 to Emma Belle Barnes his wife of 69 years. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Steve Cunningham (Becky) of Tiki Island, Texas, Tim Cunningham (Melissa) of Waterford: a daughter, Mary Watson (Ed) of Lowell; seven grandchildren, Nathan Cunningham, Jordan Lawrence, Darrell Jack “DJ” Cunningham, Jesse Cunningham, Erin Cunningham, Eddie Watson and Kelsie Schaad; seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harold, Keith and Dan Cunningham; and a sister, Jeanne Farmer.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 14, 2022 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Pastor Ed Long officiating. Burial will be in the Waterford Cemetery with Military Services at the graveside. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
