Cyrus W. "Cy" Jobes

     Cyrus W. “Cy” Jobes, 93, of Beverly, Ohio, died on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Appletree Assited Living in Beverly. He was born on March 19, 1930 in Licking County, Ohio, son of Alonzo B. and Marie Matthews Jobes. Cy graduated from Beverly High School in 1948 and retired from BF Goodrich in 1985. After his retirement he moved to Titusville, Florida and lived there for several years before returning to Ohio in June of 2023. He served in the US Army and retired from the Airforce Reserves in 1989 as a Master Sergeant. He was a 68 year member of the American Legion Post #389 in Beverly and a member of the Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge 37 F&AM in Beverly. Cy is survived by four daughters, Cynthia Edgell and husband Tim of Macksburg, Becky Ellison and husband Dave of Maysel, WV, Julie Warren and husband Dave of Whipple and Beth Stentz of Lowell; a son, Cy Jobes II and wife Patrice of Apex, NC; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Dolly Stokley of Westerville, Ohio and a brother, Lee Jobes and wife Gloria of Pataskala, Ohio. He was preceded in death his parents; two brothers, Frankie Jobes and Mervin Jobes; four sisters, Bernice Mattis, Bonnie Eash, Fannie Woodford and Sara Lou Atkinson; and a son in law, Leo Biehl II.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 6, 2023 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly, with Evang. Zack Waite officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Dale Cemetery with Military Rites at the cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 PM.
