Billy J. Weisend

     Billy J. Weisend, 93, of Parkersburg, WV, died at his home on Monday, May 11, 2020. He was born on October 26, 1926 in Waterford, Ohio, son of William and Carol Lauer Weisend. He retired after 42 years of service from BF Goodrich in Marietta. He was in the US Army and served his country in the Pacific Theater during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post 750 at Lowell . Billy attended the Latrobe St. Church of Christ in Parkersburg, WV. He was married on December 24, 1949 to Helen J. Tyson Weisend who died on January 20, 1998. He is survived by a son, Lee Weisend and wife Karen of Devola; a daughter, Carol Weisend Steele and husband Terry of Parkersburg; two grandchildren, Alicia Craig and husband Matt and Matthew Weisend and wife Lori; five great grandchildren and several great- great grandchildren; and a sister, Juanita Meyers of Beverly. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Jack Weisend; his parents; four brothers, Leonard, Eugene, Paul and Lee Vernon Weisend and a sister, Winafred Harra.

    A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at the Beverly Cemetery with Evang. Zack Waite officiating. McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.mccurdyfh.com.
