Barbara Jean Wiley

     Barbara Jean Strauss Wiley, 77, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 21, 1943, to Paul and Winifred (Offenberger) Strauss in the family home in Palmer Township. She was a graduate of Waterford High School and went to work at Waterford Elementary as the school secretary for many years. She finished her career working in the treasurer’s offices for Wolf Creek and Warren Local School Districts.

     Barb had many interests, and among them was traveling, supporting her kids and grandkids by attending their athletic and extra-curricular activities, keeping up with her friends via Facebook, and dining out with her “Red Hats” group.

     Barb is survived by her children, Scott Wiley (Vivian) of Medina, OH; and Erica Lambert (Eric) of Marietta, OH. She was the proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren: Christina Wiley of Akron Ohio; Brice Wiley of Houston TX; Anna Wiley of Bellevue, NE; Evan Chwalek of Cleveland, OH; Reid Chwalek of Scottsdale AZ; and Maggie Chwalek of Columbus, OH. Barb was Gigi (great-grandma) to Joshua and Madelyn Penko. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Strauss (Evelyn) of Vincent, OH, and was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Marilyn Schott.

     A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 12 noon at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Beverly OH. A private interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Beverly, OH. A celebration of Barb’s life will be held at a later date for her friends and family.
