Rollie Edward Ramsey, 76, of Beverly, Ohio, died on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at his home. He was born on November 19, 1941 in Clairton, PA, son of Joseph E. and Hazel L. Hutton Ramsey. He had been an electrician foreman/ industrial maintenance and had retired from Interlake Steel after 18 years of service. He graduated from Clairton High School in Clairton, PA in 1959. He attended Clairton Electrical Technical School and also Clairton Industrial Electronics at Duquesne University. He attended Cornerstone South Family Life Church in McConnelsville, Ohio; He was a member of the Wolf Creek Judo Club and was a black-belt in Judo and taught self- defense to Police groups and women’s clubs. He won 3rd. place in the eastern U.S. in Judo at the age of 40. He had also competed in horse-back, bird dog trials and had trained bird dogs for many people around the U.S. After retiring he became an ordained minister of the gospel. He was also a member of the Geppetto Wood Carving Club in Parkersburg, WV. Rollie had also owned several farms over the years and enjoyed raising animals. On October 6, 1998 he was married to Bonnie Forshey Ramsey who survives. He is survived by two sons, Rollie Christopher Ramsey (Jane) of Vienna, Georgia and Todd Ramsey (Sara Powers) of Columbus; a step-son, Adam VanNoy of Parkersburg, WV; three daughters, Elizabeth Klintworth (Roy) of Waterford, Ohio, Cynthia Osario (Johnny) of Conway, SC and Tabitha Ramsey of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Ramsey (Kathy) of McKeesport, PA and a sister-in-law, Florence Ramsey. He was preceded in death by parents and several half- brothers and half-sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Pastor Steve Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
