Reva Townsend Obituary

Reva Ann Townsend, 74 of Beverly, Ohio, passed away February 13, 2018 at Muskingum Skilled Nursing and Rehab. after a 3 year battle with cancer. Reva was no ordinary person. Anyone who had ever met her knows that she had a spark in her that could not be explained. She may have had a rough exterior, but the women had a heart of gold. She spent her entire life taking care of others. As a matter of fact, the facility in which she passed away at is the same one she retired from many years ago. She was a nurses aide. She didn’t cut corners when it came to her patients, even if that meant spending her free time to take care of them. She would do everything she could to make them feel like family. Reva was also responsible to train the new hires. I was one many years ago. She was quick to correct your mistakes. If she thought you weren’t doing it right, she had no issue telling you about it. That statement held true until the day that she died. She was always giving the staff tips and tricks on how to improve what they did. Maybe not always in a polite way but she always got the point across. Reva also had a passion for her dogs. I have never in my life seen someone pamper their pooches like she did. Painted nails, scarves, visits to the puppy salon and she would take them everywhere she went. Now we all know grandma’s can cook, but this women, oh her food was mouth- watering. Again she didn’t cut corners, everything was homemade. Her chocolate pie is what dreams are made of. No matter how hard I try, I can’t get my food to taste like hers. My pinches and dashes are a bit off I guess. Reva spent her free time crocheting and quilting. She made beautiful works of art with needle and thread. She would work tirelessly until every stitch was perfect.

Reva is survived by her son, Ricky L. Townsend and wife Danielle of Steubenville, Ohio; two brothers, Dwight Tullius and wife Vicki of Marietta and Kenny Tullius and wife Christine of Marietta; as well as 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Rick (Fatcat) Townsend; daughter, Rose Townsend; parents, Francis and Dora Tullius; sister, Dora May McElfresh; brother, Charles “Fritz” Tullius and 2 great grand- daughters. Reva’s life deserves  a celebration. Don’t be sad that she is gone she has left us with many memories. Funeral services will be held at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly, on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 am, with Pastor Rick Bourne officiating. Burial will be in the Putnam Cemetery in Devola.
