Louis D. Thornton

     Louis D. Thornton, 81, of Beverly, Ohio, died on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Muskingum Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Beverly. He was born on July 1, 1937 in Marietta, Ohio, son of Emmer and Louise Lippincott Thornton. He had worked as a Millwright for many years. Louis served in the Army National Guard for three years and was a volunteer fireman for the Palmyra Volunteer Fire Dept. in Palmyra, Ohio. He had also served as an Auxiliary Policeman in Newton Falls, Ohio. He was married on May 28, 1962 to Mary Morris Thornton, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Norma Jean Thornton of Beverly and Michelle Perry and husband Harold of Salem, WV; five grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Leonard, Heather, Tiffany and Alisha; and ten great-grandchildren; He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sheila Lynn Fisher; two brothers and four sisters.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Evang. Zack Waite officiating. Burial will be in the Beverly Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 pm on Tuesday. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.mccurdyfh.com.
