LeEllen Moore Obituary

LeEllen (Pat) Hinkle Moore, 79, of Beverly, Ohio passed away on October 31, 2018 at Harmar Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 6, 1939 in Harrisville, West Virginia, daughter of the late John Carl and Idelene Finley Hinkle. Moore is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Dale Moore. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Walters of Beverly, Ohio and her two grandchildren, Dawn Walters, Esq. and husband Ben of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Tyler Walters of Beverly, Ohio. Moore is also survived by her brother Michael (Yvonne) Hinkle of Ellenboro, West Virginia; her sister Carla (Bill) Murphy, of Towson, Maryland; her brothers-in-law Owen Moore of Harrisville, West Virginia and Wilbur (Shirely) Moore of Ellenboro, West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. 

 

LeEllen was dedicated to her family, church, and work. She graduated from Harrisville High School in 1956 as valedictorian and student body president, and from Marietta College, magna cum laude, in 1993. She soloed an airplane before she acquired her driver’s license. During her career, she was a postal clerk at the Beverly Post Office, medical assistant to Dr. Don L Carman, and practice administrator at Beverly Medical Clinic. She started at Marietta Memorial Hospital in 1989 as Director of Patient Registration, where she was awarded the Fenton Award in 1992, and retired as the Director of Patient Financial Services in 2011. She served as vice president of the Fort Frye Board of Education from 1990 to 1998 and was named to the Southeast Ohio Region School Board. LeEllen also worked as a correspondent for the Marietta Times and a partner in her husband’s glass-cutting business. 

 

LeEllen was a member of the Beverly United Methodist Church where she served in many roles, including United Methodist Youth Fellowship leader, Sunday School teacher, administrative council president, and camp coordinator. She was an avid golfer at the Lakeside Golf Club and enjoyed walks around town, writing in calligraphy, and cooking for her family.

 

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly. Services will be held at the Beverly United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 4 at 2:00 p.m., and burial will be in the Beverly Cemetery. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Beverly United Methodist Church.

 

The family wishes to thank the staff at Harmar Rehabilitation Center and Marietta Memorial Hospital, and Drs. Kelli Cawley and Lloyd Dennis for their compassionate and loving care.
