Kay Nelson Pugh, 87, of Palmer Township, died on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at his home. He was born on March 7, 1931 in Palmer Township, son of Clifford Nixon Pugh and Gretta Mable Dutton Pugh Cobb. He retired after 30 years from Interlake/Globe Metallurgical as a mechanic. He had also been a longtime Palmer Township Trustee. Kay graduated from Waterford High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the 7th St. Church of Christ in McConnelsville. Kay was an avid hunter since his childhood, loving deer, rabbit, turkey and squirrel hunting the best. He was well known for traveling with his best friend (poodle) sitting on his shoulder as he drove. He was married on March 24, 1951 to Mabel Rhea Hammack Pugh. She died June 5, 2009. He is survived by a son, Randy (Dee) Pugh; a daughter, Tammy Pugh; grandchildren, David (Jennifer) Pugh, Dennis Pugh, and Stephanie (Michael) Brannan; great-grandchildren, Logan, Kaycee, Allyson, Jevin and Berkley; and a great- great- granddaughter Kynlee; sister’s in-law, Lois Pugh and Dorothy Pugh; and a special friend, Patsy Hendershot; also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a sister, Elma Dovenbarger; three brothers, Max, John and James “Chicken” Pugh; and a step great- granddaughter, Jordin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 25, 2019 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Rev. Sam Bartrug officiating. Burial will be in the Dale Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Sunday. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.mccurdyfh.com.
