Janice Marie Stutzman, 94, of Beverly, Ohio, died on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Muskingum Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Beverly. She was born April 10, 1924 in Newton, West Virginia, daughter of Isaac and Aletha Wright Steorts. She had been a cook at the Washington County Home and several other places in the area for several years. She had also been a nurses aid at the Fairview Manor Nursing Home in Beverly. She had worked in Akron, Ohio during WWII on aircrafts as a Rosie the Riveter. Janice was a Baptist by faith.
She is survived by a son, David Stutzman and wife Sally of Vincent; a daughter, Patti Amato of Akron, Ohio; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great- great- grandson. A brother, Noel Steorts of Beverly; a niece Joyce Ann Higginbothan and husband Paul of Newton, WV.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jeanice Swisher; four brothers, Claude, Gordon, William and Lawrence Steorts; three sisters, Alberta Drake, Lucille Wright and Irene Reynolds.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 8, 2018 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly, with Dr. Tim Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in the Center Cemetery near Waterford. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Thursday. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.mccurdyfh.com.
