Fred V. Combs

On September 14, 1927 Fred V. Combs entered this world, the son of Everett A. Combs and Bessie Gorrell Combs Young in Center Township, Morgan County, Ohio.  He was a graduate of Manchester High School in Reinersville, Ohio. He served in the Merchant Marines and Navy during WWII and in the Army National Guard during the Korean Conflict. On October 14, 1950 he married Lorraine Parks Combs in Fort Eustes, Virginia. He is survived by his wife Lorraine of Beverly; a son, Ronald Combs and wife Sue of Beverly; Beloved family friend, Estelle Moretz Dinan; Five grandchildren, Ryan Smithberger and Lyndsi Smithberger of South Bend, Ind., Adria Handley (Aaron) of Beverly, Alana Cunningham (Ben) of Waterford and Aleece Dye (Nicholas) of Beverly; Eight great grandchildren, Parker and Colin Smithberger, Elliott and Bryce Handley, Daniel and Jackson Cunningham and Clark and Blakley Dye; and another great grandchild expected; a son in-law, Jeff Smithberger of South Bend, Ind.; a sister Linda Horne of Dallas, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Smithberger on September 27, 2001; his parents; three brothers, Don, Bernard and Robert Combs; two sisters, Bernice Huck and Mary Alice Hooper Wayne; a half- brother, Walter Wortman and a half- sister, Myrna Shingle.

At 3:13 am on December 17, 2017 he said goodbye to this world and entered Eternity to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Barlow with Pastors Rob Vernon, Chuck Kiser and Josh Harbison officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 pm on Tuesday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly and 1 hour before the service at the church.
