Edgar C. Ginther

     Edgar C. Ginther, 94, of Waterford, Ohio, died on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at his home. He was born on March 18, 1925 in Haydenville, Ohio, son of Daniel and Edna Holmes Ginther. He had worked for many years at the AEP Muskingum River Plant, retiring in 1987. Ed attended Woodsfield High School and served in the Army Air Forces during WWII. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, member and past Commander of the American Legion Post #389 at Beverly and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Ed was very instrumental in the organization of The Sons of the American Legion at Post #389. He was also a member and a 3rd. Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus #4617. On September 6, 1948 he married Alma J. McCreery Ginther who survives. He is also survived by eight children, Michael (Debbie) Ginther of Carrollton, Ga., Phillip (Sharon) Ginther of Galion, Ohio, Ann Conrath (David) of Waterford, Patricia Gast (Patrick) of Beverly, Carol Clark (Larry Border) of Beverly, Dan (Lori) Ginther of Beverly, Martin (Angie) Ginther of Beverly and Matthew Ginther of Cutler; a daughter in-law, Susan Ginther of Beverly; fifteen grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tim Ginther; grandson, Christopher Daniel Ginther; three brothers, John, Delbert and William Ginther; a sister, Gertrude Sparks and two infant sisters, Anna and Grace.

     Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Beverly with Father Tim Kozak officiating. Burial will be in the Beverly Cemetery with military services at the grave. Friends may call 4-8 pm on Tuesday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 pm on Tuesday. Ed’s family would like to thank the Amedisys Hospice for the care they provided for Ed. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Legion Post #389.
