Doris Francis "Babe" Drayer

Doris Francis “Babe” Drayer, 74, of Waterford, Ohio, died on Friday, August 9, 2019 at her home. She was born February 2, 1945 in Marietta, daughter of Mabel Burchett Brothers. She was raised by Jessie and Burton Burchett in their home. She graduated from Waterford High School in 1963. Doris had worked at Sponey’s IGA in Beverly for many years and later at Hickory Grove convenience store in Vincent. She was a member of the Fraternal Orders of Eagles Auxiliary # 3665 at Beverly. She was married on June 29, 1963 to Kenneth R. Drayer who died on August 17, 2009. She is survived by two sons, Daniel Drayer of Waterford and Christopher Drayer of Beverly; a daughter, Tamela Barth and husband Troy of Reno, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Randen Reese, Haley Drayer, Jessi Hunsberger, Brooke Drayer, Dara Drayer, Dani Drayer, Wyatt Barth and Derek Drayer; four great grandchildren, Mason Reese, Ella Heiss, Myles Reese and Ayla Heiss; a special friend, Doug Sayers of Waterford; three brothers, David, Dwight and Vaughn Thacker and one sister, Donnita Thacker; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; mother; and two sisters, Diane and Jackie Thacker.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 12, 2019 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Evang. Zack Waite officiating. Burial will be in the Waterford Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Sunday. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.mccurdyfh.com.
