Betty Joan Husk, 89, of Beverly, died on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Appletree Assisting Living in Beverly. She was born on August 21, 1929 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, daughter of Leopold Blair and Clorice Gribble Bush. She had been a school teacher at Beverly Elementary and in West Virginia for 34 years. She grew up in West Virginia and graduated from Troy High School in Gilmer County. She received her AB Degree at Glenville State College and did her graduate work at Ohio University. She was a member of the Beverly United Methodist Church and a member of the local Retired Teachers Association. She was married on August 4, 1951 to Worthy L. Husk who died October 7, 1997. She is survived by a son, David Husk and his wife Melinda of Beverly and a daughter, Nancy Hinton of Lowell; four grandsons, Christopher Hinton (Amanda), David Husk (Katie), Andrew Husk and Captain Phillip Husk (Nia); six great grandchildren; two special nieces, Tina Thomasson (Rick) and Marcia Deitsch (Mike) and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Phyllis Bush, three brother in-laws and three sister in-laws.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Beverly United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry Penrod officiating. Burial will be in the Beverly Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly.
