Robert Dwight Quimby, 90, of Beverly, died Friday, April 20, 2012 at his home. He was born December 3, 1921 in Watertown, Ohio, son of George and Ethel Martin Quimby. He had owned and operated Quimby’s Restaurant and Bar for 65 years. He served in the Army Air Forces during WWII and was one of the oldest members of the American Legion Post #389 in Beverly. He loved nature and liked to hunt and fish. He was married January 21, 1947 to Donna Jean Sherbourne Quimby who died September 29, 1984. He is survived by 4 children, Larry Joe Quimby of Beverly, Cathy Quimby of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sherry Saunders and husband Brian of Beverly and Robert Quimby Jr. of West Chester, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, Luke Turnbach, Master Sergeant Christopher Hart, Michele Hart, Kyle Saunders and Whitney Saunders; Several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a son, Danny Quimby, a brother, Gerald Quimby and a sister, Alta Lee Quimby. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Pastor Karl Kesselring officiating. Burial will be in Beverly Cemetery with military services at the grave. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday. Donations may be made to the Beverly Waterford Rescue Squad or the Beverly Volunteer Fire Department.
