Terry W. Phillis, 61, of Beverly, Ohio, died on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 in Beckley, WV. He was born on March 4, 1958 in Tucson, Arizona, son of Stanley E. and Ina Barnhart Phillis. He had been a truck driver for Wetz Trucking Company for several years. Terry graduated from Fort Frye High School in 1976 and served three years in the US Army. He later served in the Army Guard Reserves at the Hawk Missile Site in McConnelsville from 1988 until 1997. He was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed deer hunting.
He was married on January 9, 1982 to Shelly Baker Phillis who survives. Also surviving is a son, Casey Phillis and his wife Alaina of Beverly; two grandchildren, Luke and Eli; His mother, Ina Phillis of Beverly; three brothers, Robert Phillis and his wife Gladys of Phoenix, Arizona, Rodney Phillis and wife Linda of Beverly and David Phillis of Beverly; his mother and father in-law, Neil and Nancy Baker of Beverly; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; a son, Adam W. Phillis and a sister, Deborah Bickford.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 3, 2019 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Pastor Jim Porter officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Friends may call 3-6 pm on Sunday. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.mccurdyfh.com.
