Noah V. Garris, 88, of Lancaster, Ohio, died Friday, August 11, 2017 at Main Street Terrace in Lancaster. He was born February 13, 1929 in Whitman, WV, son of William Lewis  Garris and Sabra Jane Binion Garris. Noah graduated from Manchester High School and became a teacher, principal, superintendent and school administrator. He had been a teacher at Chesterhill and Fulton Ohio and then to Beverly as principal and superintendent at Fort Frye from 1959-1974. He then became superintendent at Huron City Schools from 1975-1981. He also was a member of the Fort Frye Board of Education. After his retirement Noah and a partner started Temporary Professional Services which he was associated with for 12 years. He was also an Associate Professor with Ohio University at Kano, Nigeria from 1964-1966. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge #37 F&AM at Beverly, Lions Club member at Beverly and Huron, Sons of the American Revolution and lifetime member of the NEA and OEA.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Ruth Clark Garris who he married January 2, 1948. He is also survived by a son, Steve Garris and wife Carol of McConnelsville; two daughters, Dianne Combs and husband Rick of Lancaster and Cathy Davis and husband Gordon of Oviedo, Florida; six grandchildren, Andrew and Austin Davis, Carolyn Raney, Clark Garris, Troy Combs and Amy Broughton; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Garris and wife Roberta of Sparta, Ohio; and a special friend, Curtis Kruse. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond Garris and an infant brother and infant sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Rev. Phyllis Fetzer officiating. Burial will in the Smith Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Monday. A Masonic Lodge service will be held at 8:00 pm on Monday. Donations may be made to the Beverly United Methodist Church, 700 Park St. Beverly, Ohio 45715 or the Maple Street United Methodist Church, 438 East Wheeling St., Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
