Garrett L. Tornes

Garrett L. Tornes, 20, of Beverly, Ohio, died on Friday, August 4, 2017, as a result of a car accident in Pike County, Ohio. Garrett was on his way to summer drills with the Army National Guard. He was born on September 7, 1996 in Charleston, WV, son of Dennis Tornes and Pam Wilson Moore. He graduated from Waterford High School in 2015 and was employed by Lang Excavating as a heavy equipment operator. He joined the Army National Guard and did his basic training at Fort Jackson, SC and did his AIT in Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri. He was assigned to the 1191st Combat Engineer Battalion. He was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Beverly.

He is survived by his father, Dennis Tornes and his wife Danean of Waterford and his mother, Pam Moore and her husband Eric of Beverly; a brother, Gavinn Tornes of Beverly and a sister, Gabbi Tornes of Beverly; three step brothers, Josh Anderson of Columbus, Kyle Moore of Vienna, WV and Carson Moore of Belpre; two step-sisters, Alaynee Anderson of Columbus and Nina Dodrill of San Diego, Cal.; Grandparents, Dave and Marlene Tornes of Waterford, Roger and Rosalie Wilson of Vincent and Harold Moore of Parkersburg, WV; also, several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Melinda Tornes.

 A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at St. Bernard Church in Beverly with Father Tim Kozak officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery with full Military services at the grave. Friends may call 2-8 pm on Tuesday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly.
